"In gratitude, I can see the world as a gift from the earth, from the very dirt that sustains us. A gift not just to me but to every living being."
- Braiding Sweetgrass
Gastonia's independent health food store since 1992
We’ve all been to those little cute, kind of granola, health food stores. The first thing you notice is that mixture of incense and teas and herbs that's so distinctive to old health food businesses. It kind of tells you what you're going to get. Lots of bulk food — bulk tea, medicinal herbs, cooking herbs and seasonings, oils and lotions, local meat. It's just a real fun place to be.
Pretty much everyone has been with the store for over twenty years. They really are the store. And everyone knows everyone by name.
While Organic Marketplace strives to be the region’s source of education in vitamins, supplements, and yummy food, the biggest thing that happens here is that you make friends. You build community. That lasts.
There is absolutely nothing better than being in business for 30 years and having three generations come in. — Renée
